SANDUSKY, Ohio — Playing on familiar local turf, the Perkins High School boys golf team posted a strong team score of 324 to secure a second-place finish at the OHSAA Division II Sectional Tournament held at Woussickett Golf Course. The Pirates finished behind sectional champion Vermilion (309) and held off Bellevue (327), Shelby (329), Galion (337), and Ontario (350) in a competitive northern Ohio field of 13 teams. Senior Colton Kelley led the way for Perkins, firing a team-best round of 76 to place third overall in the individual standings. Fellow senior Kyle Schaefer delivered another standout performance, finishing fifth overall with a 79. The Pirates' steady scoring depth was rounded out by junior Ty Obergefell, who carded an 83 to place 16th, alongside senior Ian Krecic and freshman Bruce Crabtree, who both posted solid rounds of 86. The Pirates will now compete at the Division II District Tournament at Maumee Bay on Tuesday.
