PIRATE FOOTBALL MOVES TO 3-0 AFTER SHUTOUT OF ST. FRANCIS
Perkins pitched a shutout at home, riding explosive special teams play and a efficient passing performance from quarterback Grant Kuhnle to defeat St. Francis 23-0. The Pirates move to 3-0.
The Pirates struck early in the first quarter when Dante Shipp set the tone, electrifying the home crowd with a 51-yard punt return for a touchdown. Shortly after, the Perkins defense pinned St. Francis deep in their own territory, forcing a safety to extend the lead to 9-0. Kuhnle kept the pressure on in the second quarter, connecting with Kaden Legando for a 37-yard touchdown pass to build a 16-0 advantage heading into halftime.
JoJo Moore sealed the victory in the third quarter with a 15-yard touchdown run, bringing the score to its final 23-0 mark. Kicker Danny Buga was reliable all night, going a perfect 3-for-3 on extra points.
Perkins outgained St. Francis in total yards, 177 to 119. Kuhnle finished the night completing 12 of 20 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown, spreading the ball to eight different receivers. Moore led the rushing effort with 31 yards and a touchdown on 7 carries, while Levi Jackson contributed 26 rushing yards and caught two passes for 23 yards.
Defensively, the Pirates held St. Francis to just 55 passing yards and 64 rushing yards on 36 carries, allowing only 2.2 yards per play. With the dominant all-around effort, Perkins claimed a decisive shutout win at home.
The Pirates are back in action next Friday vs. Harvest Prep for the Homecoming Game.
