Joel Smelcer Sets Meet Record as Perkins Boys Cross Country Finishes Eighth

JOEL SMELCER SETS MEET RECORD AS PERKINS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES EIGHTH

The Perkins Boys Cross Country team competed in the HS Boys Orange Division 5K, finishing eighth out of 14 teams with a team score of 193. Leading the way for the Pirates was senior Joel Smelcer, who delivered an outstanding performance by winning the individual race with a time of 15:20.73. Smelcer's performance also set a new meet record, highlighting an impressive day for the Perkins standout. Riley Miller was the Pirates' second finisher, placing 25th overall with a time of 18:30.60. Jackson Zolman followed in 40th at 19:06.57, while Kenneth Bratt finished 65th with a time of 20:17.68. Perkins' remaining runners included Aiden Speer, who placed 89th in 21:28.97, Jackson Gibbs, who finished 93rd in 21:42.76, Logan Cooley, who crossed the finish line in 95th at 21:46.11, and Zell Ferris, who finished 118th with a time of 23:07.80. Gavin Schlett also competed for the Pirates, finishing 121st in 23:24.82, while Jamison Cave finished 135th at 26:05.27. With a record-setting individual performance from Smelcer and strong efforts throughout the lineup, Perkins continues to build momentum as the cross country season progresses.
