FOOTBALL MOVES TO 2-0 WITH VICTORY OVER TOLEDO SCOTT

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Perkins Pirates delivered a commanding performance on Thursday, August 27, 2026, blowing past the Toledo Scott Bulldogs 58-6 on the road. Driven by a staggering 36-point outburst in the second quarter, Perkins capitalized on strong defense and explosive big plays to get the victory. Perkins opened the scoring in the first quarter when JoJo Moore punched in a 2-yard touchdown run, capped by a Danny Buga extra-point kick to make it 7-0.  The floodgates opened in the second quarter. Levi Jackson sparked the barrage with a 1-yard touchdown plunge, followed quickly by a 6-yard rushing score from Logan Wadsworth. Quarterback Grant Kuhnle then connected with Dante Shipp for a 19-yard touchdown strike, with Kuhnle finding Kaden Legando for the two-point conversion.  Perkins' defense and special teams immediately piled on. Boden Ballinger scooped up a fumble and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown. To close out the half, Bryce Davie took a lateral after an interception return and raced 52 yards to the end zone. Kuhnle converted another two-point pass to Legando, sending the Pirates into halftime with a 43-0 advantage.  Scott broke through in the third quarter when quarterback Roshawn Russell launched an 80-yard touchdown pass to Renee McMillian. However, Perkins answered immediately with a 7-yard touchdown run from JoJo Moore. In the fourth quarter, JJ Green capped off the night with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Davon Johnson, sealed by a Kannyn Henson PAT.  The Pirates outgained the Bulldogs 371 to 129 in total net yards. Kuhnle led the passing attack, completing 10 of 16 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown, while Davie pulled in three receptions for 103 yards. Jackson topped the Pirates' ground game with 37 yards on seven carries. Perkins' defense forced five total turnovers—including three interceptions and two fumble recoveries—while keeping Scott to just 18 net rushing yards on the night. The Pirates are back in action next Friday vs St. Francis at FirelandsHealth Stadium.
